Our Services

  • Our specialised play therapy for children offers a welcoming and supportive space tailored to kids aged 3 to 12. Through these therapeutic sessions, we use guided play to help children explore emotions, behaviours, and thoughts they may find difficult to express verbally. Play therapy supports children facing challenges such as anxiety, trauma, or social and behavioural issues, promoting deep emotional healing, resilience, and self-acceptance. This service supports children's mental health while encouraging growth and development in a safe, nurturing environment.

  • Our filial therapy sessions strengthen the attachment bond between children and their parents or caregivers, enhancing family therapy by involving parents directly in therapeutic play interactions. This attachment-focused approach improves communication, builds trust, and fosters secure family relationships. By supporting parents in developing therapeutic skills, it encourages meaningful connections and helps them better understand their child’s needs.

  • Family therapy at Strong Foundations is a vital part of our family support services. We provide a supportive space for families to explore dynamics, improve communication, and work through challenges together. Each session is tailored to your family’s needs, with a focus on strengthening connections, fostering open dialogue, and creating a positive home environment. Family therapy helps families navigate difficulties and promotes lasting, healthy relationships.

  • Our 5-Day Intensive Play Therapy Program offers a focused therapeutic experience designed to support children’s emotional and social development during the school break. This structured program provides a safe and engaging environment where children can build resilience, explore emotions, and develop essential coping skills. Through play-based and therapeutic activities, children facing challenges such as anxiety, social difficulties, or emotional regulation issues receive targeted support to promote mental health and wellbeing. This intensive service is a valuable addition to our therapeutic services for children, fostering growth and development within a concentrated timeframe.

  • Our parent guidance and support services offer practical strategies to help parents nurture their child’s emotional and behavioural development. Through our support for parents sessions, we work with you to address common parenting challenges, provide insights into child behaviour, and strengthen positive parent–child interactions. This service empowers you to build a strong, supportive role in your child’s life while complementing the therapeutic services provided to children and families.

"In play therapy, children reveal what they need and what they struggle with, and the therapist’s role is to facilitate a process that enables healing and self-discovery."

Starting Your Child’s Therapy Journey

  • Book Your Initial Assessment

Begin your child’s therapy journey with a comprehensive initial assessment, conducted via telehealth over 60 minutes. During this session, we meet with parents or caregivers to gain a deeper understanding of your child’s needs, background, and the challenges they may be facing. This assessment is designed to offer support for parents, answer questions, clarify goals, and determine how our child therapy services can help. Together, we’ll create a roadmap for emotional support and begin tailoring a therapeutic plan that meets your child’s unique needs.

  • Begin Play Therapy Sessions

Once we have a thorough understanding of your child’s needs, play therapy sessions will begin. Each 45-minute session provides a dedicated time for your child to express thoughts, emotions, and behaviours through play in a safe and supportive environment. Our child therapy services can be delivered at home for convenience, with the option of clinic appointments on Saturdays. These sessions focus on supporting children's mental health and building resilience over time.

  • Engage in Parent and Professional Feedback Sessions

We believe in a collaborative approach to therapy for children and support for families. Throughout your child’s therapy, we hold regular feedback sessions with parents to encourage open communication about progress and make any necessary adjustments to meet evolving needs. With parental consent, we also collaborate with other allied health professionals to ensure comprehensive care, delivering effective family support services across Sydney.
